Empowered: A Self-Defense Workshop Saturday, September 28 | 1–2:30PM Taught by Jessica M. Cliff of U.S. Shuai Chiao Kung Fu Academy
At its core, yoga asks us to live with awareness, compassion, and courage. In a world where harm is a reality—especially for women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ communities—self-defense becomes an extension of yogic practice: protecting what is sacred, starting with ourselves.
This 90-minute workshop will cover four key areas:
Preventative Action
When to give in
When not to give in
What to do when it’s time to fight back
We'll begin with a brief overview of real-world safety statistics and scenarios, followed by a hands-on session focused on practical self-defense skills designed to help you escape to safety. The class will end with time for Q&A and a recap.
Participants will receive a take-home guide with step-by-step instructions of all the moves covered, plus a voucher for a free group class at Jessica’s academy.
Rooted in awareness and agency, this class is about reclaiming your power—through presence, preparation, and embodied strength.
